About this Scheme

Andhra Pradesh, being the largest aquaculture producer in India (contributing over 35% of total inland fish production), operates a comprehensive fish farmer development scheme through the Fish Farmer Development Agency (FFDA). The scheme supports pond construction, input subsidies, and technology adoption for shrimp and freshwater fish farming across the state's coastal and inland districts.

Objectives

  • 1Enhance aquaculture production in AP, particularly Vannamei shrimp and freshwater fish
  • 2Support new and existing fish farmers with subsidized inputs and infrastructure
  • 3Promote scientific aquaculture practices and disease management
  • 4Strengthen hatchery networks for quality seed availability

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fish farmers with own or leased land in Andhra Pradesh
  • SHGs and cooperatives in fisheries sector
  • SC/ST/Women beneficiaries (priority with 60% subsidy)
  • BPL families with access to water bodies

Benefits

  • 40% subsidy on pond construction up to Rs. 3 lakh per hectare (60% for SC/ST/Women)
  • Input subsidy for seed, feed, and lime procurement
  • Aerator and water pump subsidy up to Rs. 50,000
  • Training programs at state fisheries training centres
  • Crop insurance at subsidized premiums

Application Process

  1. 1Apply at the District Fisheries Office (DFO) with required documents
  2. 2DFO conducts site inspection and eligibility verification
  3. 3Applications recommended to District Collector for approval
  4. 4Subsidy released through DBT to beneficiary bank account
