Gujarat, with its 1,600 km coastline (the longest in India), offers comprehensive fisheries assistance covering marine fishing, brackishwater shrimp culture, and inland aquaculture. The scheme supports vessel modernization, pond construction, cold chain infrastructure, and technology adoption to develop Gujarat as a leading seafood exporting state.

Objectives

1Develop marine and inland fisheries along Gujarat's extensive coastline
2Support brackishwater shrimp farming in coastal districts of Kutch, Junagadh, and Valsad
3Modernize fishing fleet with safety and navigation equipment
4Create post-harvest infrastructure to reduce losses

Eligibility Criteria

Traditional fishers and fish farmers registered in Gujarat
Coastal communities engaged in marine or brackishwater aquaculture
Entrepreneurs setting up processing or cold chain units in Gujarat
Cooperatives and SHGs in the fisheries sector

Benefits

50% subsidy on brackishwater pond construction up to Rs. 4 lakh per hectare
60% subsidy on fishing vessel engine replacement for safety (SC/ST/Women)
Cold chain unit subsidy of 50% up to Rs. 25 lakh
Fuel subsidy for mechanized fishing boats
Group accident insurance for marine fishers at state expense

Application Process

1Apply online through the I-Khedut portal (ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in)
2District Fisheries Officer verifies documents and conducts field inspection
3Approval by District Level Committee
4Subsidy disbursed via DBT within 30 days of approval
